A Bureau for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons will be established in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

This decision was approved by the Resolution of the Ninety-Ninth Session of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine, which took place from February 5-7. The newly established Bureau will be responsible for coordinating the protection of children from violence.

How to ensure the safety of children in the church environment?

On February 6-7, the Child Dignity Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University held a second-level formation school titled "Creating a Safe Environment for the Child" for clergy, consecrated persons, and heads of relevant diocesan commissions. The goal of this school was to explore the tools for preventing violence and how to apply them in the church environment.

The Child Dignity Center of UCU conducted training for safeguarding coordinators

From January 22 to 24, 25 participants from public organizations in Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kryvyi Rih attended a three-day training as part of the certification program "Creating a Safe Environment for Children. Safeguarding Officer in an Organization." The training was organized by the Child Dignity Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University in partnership with the NGO Resource Center (NGORC).

Students of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Institute of Religious Sciences learned how to ensure the safety of children.

On January 22 and 29, Ivanka Rudakevych, the head of projects and programs at the Child Dignity Center, delivered a lecture titled "Creating a Safe Environment for Minors and Vulnerable Individuals." The audience consisted of students from the "Catechetical Ministry and Evangelization" and "Family Counseling" programs at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Institute of Religious Sciences in Kyiv.

A City Safe for Children: A Project for Creating a Child-Friendly Environment is Being Implemented in Lviv

The 'City for the Child' project aims to create a safe environment and prevent potential risks of abuse against children. It is being implemented by the Child's Dignity Center of the Ukrainian Catholic University in collaboration with various departments of the Lviv City Council. Students of the Ukrainian Catholic University will also be involved in the project.

The Center for Child Dignity at UCU participated in a conference on child protection within the Catholic Church in Rome.

From November 13 to 15, a conference titled “Safeguarding in the Catholic Church in Europe” took place in Rome. Representatives from 25 European countries gathered to share best practices aimed at preventing abuse of minors and vulnerable individuals.
