A course for educators: "Safeguarding. Child safety in the educational environment"

Sept. 9, 2023, 10:07 a.m.

We are launching a pilot project in the schools of the Lviv UTC to implement a course for educators on what violence is, how to recognize a child who is being abused, how to recognize an abuser, what are the boundaries in behavior with children, and most importantly, what are the algorithms for action if a teacher suspects that a child is being abused.

All school staff, not only teachers, will take a course within a month on the NIT - Learning and Technology e-diary platform in the Courses section and will be able to more effectively create a safe environment and respond to challenges. We plan to extend this practice to preschool education institutions.
We believe that the implementation of the course will be successful and we will be able to distribute the materials to other regions. Child protection should be preventive, and we should do everything possible to prevent violence, not just respond to incidents that have occurred.

The course will provide answers about the safety of children in Ukraine, who is a safe adult, the environment that we can call safe, danger factors, different types of violence, markers that can identify potentially dangerous behavior and ways to respond. Statistics show that in 8 out of 10 cases, violence can be committed by a person familiar to the child, so what markers can be used to identify potentially dangerous people, what to do if a child is a victim of violence, where to go - all this can be learned in the course. Convenient format of video lectures from 3 to 10 minutes, with a total duration of 1 hour, practical orientation, clear explanations - you will receive knowledge comfortably and usefully.
The course will be useful for:

  • Attentive teachers who prioritize creating a safe space for students;
  • Directors of educational institutions, classroom teachers, employees of educational institutions, anyone who works with children or is involved in the educational process;
  • For responsible adults who want to understand the psychology of children and contribute to the creation of a safe society.
    Bonuses - a handy app with helpful infographics about behavioral markers, rules, useful contacts of services, etc. This is a practical guide in pdf format that you can download, use constantly to create a friendly safe environment for children and be trusted adults.
    The course is free and can be taken remotely at a convenient time.
