Redemptorist Fathers of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer learned how to prevent violence against minors and vulnerable persons
We conduct training on the prevention of violence against minors and vulnerable persons not only for dioceses, but also for monastic communities. We are grateful for their cooperation and initiative.
Ivanka Rudakevych, head of projects and programs at UCU's Center for Child Dignity, and hieromonk-psychologist Sava Masnyk spent two days telling 43 Redemptorist fathers of the Most Holy Redeemer congregation how to prevent violence against children.
They discussed the church's experience in preventing violence, the main documents that guide the church in protecting minors and vulnerable persons, types of violence, and mechanisms for responding to cases of sexual abuse that occurred in the church.
The Redemptorist fathers learned how to talk to the victim, received basic recommendations for conducting such conversations, algorithms for actions after the disclosure, learned about the preliminary church investigation and contacts of assistance services to refer victims.
UCU's Center for the Dignity of the Child regularly conducts formations for clergy on the prevention of violence against children and vulnerable persons in the church. We offer training opportunities and resources for church representatives.
