The meeting with primary care physicians in Kyiv brought together about 70 specialists

On October 24, the UCU Center for Child Dignity held a meeting of primary care physicians with child abuse referral services entitled "Implementation of an algorithm for the interaction of helping services with primary care in the management of victims of sexual abuse" in Kyiv.

The purpose of the networking was to establish cooperation between primary care physicians and institutions that record, investigate, and support victims of sexual crimes.

The event was attended by representatives of the academic community, NGOs, prosecutors, psychologists and doctors. In particular:

  • Viktoriia Petrova, project manager of the project "Monitoring and management of sexual violence in patients of different age groups in the practice of primary care physicians
  • Yevheniia Melnyk, Head of the NHSU Academy
  • Halyna Demianenko, head of outpatient clinic No. 1 of the Primary Health Care Center No. 2 in Darnytsia district
  • Viktor Mysiak, prosecutor of the First Division of the Department for Procedural Management of Pre-trial Investigation and Support of Public Prosecution in Criminal Proceedings on Crimes Related to Sexual Violence of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Office of the Prosecutor General
  • Marta Zmysla, lawyer, coordinator of "YurFem: Support"
  • Kateryna Borozdina, vice president of the NGO "La Strada-Ukraine"

The event was attended by 67 doctors and medical directors of primary care centers from Kyiv and Bakhmut.

This is the third meeting within the framework of the project "Monitoring and Reporting of Sexual Violence in the Practice of Primary Care Physicians". In general, the networking meetings resulted in the development of a recommended and agreed algorithm of interaction between family doctors and supporting services and organizations, as well as the definition of the role of a doctor in these cases:

  1. Monitoring (based on the knowledge and skills acquired in the course)
  2. Status validation and support (based on the knowledge and skills acquired in the course)
  3. If necessary - PPD (based on the knowledge and skills acquired in the course)
  4. Psychoeducation on the consequences of psychological, physical and quality of life impacts (based on the knowledge and skills acquired in the course)
  5. Information on possible types of care and patient pathway (based on networking and referral database)
  6. Referrals (based on networking and referral database).
