Formation sessions for persons responsible for the protection of minors and vulnerable adults
What is this opportunity about?
Formation sessions are provided for persons responsible for minors’ safety at various Church levels (diocese, exarchate, congregation, parish, camp, community, organisation, school, kindergarten etc.). These can be persons responsible for receiving reports of violence cases and those tasked with supporting victims and their families. These can be priests, psychologists, canonists, clergy, educators, teachers, animators, volunteers, and community leaders.
Formation sessions include periodic meetings and cover the following topics:
- Supporting an abused person: an adult and a child. Case coordination
- Talking to an adult victim of sexual violence
- Awareness of one’s reactions to stories of victims of sexual violence
- Talking to a child who has been sexually abused. Recording the case
- Secondary victims and supporting them
- Barriers to reporting abuse
- Pastoral care of the victims
- Working with offenders
- Components of educational work and general communication about violence prevention in the Church (website, parish environment, communities etc.)
- Crisis communication

This opportunity is designed for:
Clergy, consecrated persons, laypeople, persons responsible for receiving reports of violence against minors, and those supporting victims. These can be persons working on a fee-for-service and volunteer bases.
Terms of participation: free of charge.
