Map of the responsible UGCC
The issue of protecting minors was the main topic of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC at the end of 2019. This Synod, at the call of Pope Francis in his Apostolic Letter Vos estis lux mundi, decided to create a system for receiving reports of sexual abuse in the church and to introduce formations for clergy, religious and laity on the prevention of violence.
Starting in 2019, at the level of each (arch)eparchy, exarchate of the UGCC in Ukraine, there is
- an appointed person who is obliged to listen to anyone who may have suffered from sexual abuse by the clergy and representatives of the church institution (including consecrated persons and laity)
- a group of specialists (confessor, psychologist, psychiatrist, canonist) is appointed to provide psychological and spiritual support to the alleged victim and his or her family.
We have developed a map with the data of responsible persons at the level of each diocese.
If you are aware of a case of sexual abuse committed by anyone working with children or vulnerable adults on behalf of the church, OR if this case has happened to you, you can contact the number listed in your diocese, expecting the information you provide to be kept confidential.
